5 MINUTES WITH FRANCIS CHAN

One of the benefits of working in Christian media is meeting in person well known leaders, teachers and authors. Some we admire and highly respect, and others we don’t.

Last week, Francis Chan (a leader we admire and respect) was in town. And appearing on our channel was on his itinerary for Thursday 13th May 2010.

After his interview, we had the opportunity to meet him. I told him about me going to study at seminary (The Master’s Seminary) and asked him for advice.

He made me aware of some of  the hazards common to seminary students:

1. Making God into a topic we study
2. Pride
3. Having a full head, and an empty heart

And showed me ways to avoid them:

1. A consistent devotional life
2. Engaging with people through evangelism

It was 5mins of advice I should never forget and apply to my years as a seminary student.

Thank you Francis Chan.

  1. Great advise from Francis Chan! I have seen friends of mine go to seminary and have all 3 points he warned against to the point they got all the head knowledge but have forgotten how to love and serve the body.
